Named after the village of Port Askaig on the Isle of Islay, Port Askaig’s range of single malts achieves a perfect balance between smoky peat and fruity sweetness. The Port Askaig range consists of a collection of anonymous, small-batch single malts from across Islay, showcasing the unique character of this unique island.
Port Askaig 100 Proof is aged in refill American oak, the youngest whisky in Port Askaig 100 Proof is seven years old and it is bottled at 100 British proof: 57.1% ABV.
A high strength and consistent whisky, it leaves those enjoying it to water it down to their own preferred taste. Distilled on Islay, it is medium peated with smoky, salty and sweet notes.
Nose - Rich, with a meaty smokiness that belies its light colour. Freshly cooked ham and burning logs are joined by a soft coastal character of sea spray and stony rock pools.
Palate - Sharp and stony initially, with an intense minerality that quickly becomes sweet and rich - milky coffee, milk chocolate and spicy cinnamon gobstoppers. The spice grows, adding liquorice and stewed apple with cinnamon, along with heavy charcoal smoke.
Finish - Sweet, spicy and very long. Cinnamon spiced chocolate slowly fades to drying apple skin.
